I needed a small radio for when I travel on Amtrak California (my previous radio was too bulky and I decided to give it to one of my cousins in India in May). Space is limited in my laptop bag, as I use my laptop on the train to edit my trip photos and photoshop albums before completion. I bought this radio so I can listen to radio vs. using my iPhone 6 - especially the local stations in case of emergency. I like Sangean as I had one of their table radios and I love the quality of the sound it provides, listening to NPR for music or news. It's in a clear plastic case and a rubbery pouch is included to make it nice. I can listen to KNX LA, KCBS SF or KFBK Sacramento for news - KKJZ Long Beach or KQED SF for NPR on the train without draining iPhone battery life. Signal locks in solid, typical Sangean quality.
