This sounds like a great idea, but the design is very poor. The handle on the one I got came away from the base in less than ten minutes use. To see just how bad this design is, look at the place where the handle attaches to the base. This is a place that has to move and takes a lot of the strain. On this one, it is only as wide as the handle. On other wind up flashlights, they are two or three times the width of the handle! Why so wide? Well, all your cranking won't be perfect, sometimes you'll move to one side or another - you just can't help it - so it is needs to be strong. The handle pulled out the base because there were only three very tiny prongs - about the thickness of a writing pen tip or smaller - and only two were metal.
