This radio is very, very and very good on AM band. It is also good on FM which pretty much expected in the DSP radio age we now find ourselves. Harder to find is good AM reception. In a pocket radio of this size, AM reception of this quality, reception and sensitivity is exceptional. And this RunningByte DR-01 is truly AM Band exceptional. I just picked up KFI in Los Angeles from over 700 miles away. And I have only a handful of radios that can do that. And this one does it best. I am surprised and happy. This is a good, simple portable radio that fits in the shirt pocket. About the same size or maybe slightly larger than a deck of cards I did not expect this level of performance. This is one nice radio. As a radio, it is easy to tune. Volume control range is smooth and good range from quiet to loud. Sounds good on headphones too. No FM stereo on headphones though, that would have been super nice. But no FM stereo. But that is OK. Headphone performance is good, not hiss or problem. Just plain good sound and speaker performance is very good and better than expected in a radio of this size and especially this price. This is an inexpensive good sounding good performing radio. This DR-01 is also a good clock with a dual alarm function. Two alarm setting possible, that is. The large LED screen is easy to read with big clear numbers. This is nice and easy for anyone, particularily the elderly and those with compromised vision to read. This is a nice easy to read clock that is a really nice radio. Or a really nice radio with a clock and alarm. The big LED side lit screen light up for about 5 seconds after pushing any button. When listening, the screen lights up to display radio frequency and then back to clock then light goes off and clock keeps telling time. So, as I might have mention before, this as a really nice clock that is a radio too. In any case, the clock function does seem to be dominant. And it is a nice, large easy to read clock. The radio has 5 easy to set station memory buttons, P1 thru P5 which are easy to set with a long press. 5 for AM and 5 for FM. This is enough memory sets for me. But if not, it is fast and easy to scan through the bands. The radio is thick enough and weighty enough to stand on its edge with good stability. It is solid pocket size radio. Takes 3AA batteries. Has a lock tab to secure the radio settings. It shows a 12 hour clock display and battery level. Comes with wrist strap attached. Does not come with batteries or headphone. The FM antenna secures flush and neat on side of radio and extends to about 16 inches and swivels about in almost any direction. For the price, clock, alarm and its AM and FM performance and ease of operation, fit and finish this radio is worth way more than they charge. If you are considering giving a radio to anybody, young or old, and they just need a good, functional radio, you simply cannot go wrong with this RunningByte DR-01. This is a good good radio and a good clock too. Can't go wrong here. This is that good.
